We love our food distribution partners who use and distribute the Numana meals that you have packaged. One of our newest partners, Healing Hope Missions, works in the African country of Malawi.
Malawi has a rough history. In recent years, drought has ravaged the country; leaving millions with little to nothing to eat. Malaria and AIDS were (and still are) rampant throughout the country, the lifespan being an average of 35-37 years.
Hundreds of children have been orphaned or abandoned in Malawi; HIV/AIDS has reached epidemic levels. The extended family has been eroded due to poverty and AIDS. Malawi is considered the 2nd poorest nation on the continent and the 10th poorest nation in the world.
With crops gone and disease on the rise there may seem like there is no hope, BUT we know that’s not true! Our partners at Healing Hope Missions are beginning to see the tide turn. They are seeing children become healthy, crops regrown and hope restored.
As of just a few weeks ago, the team at Healing Hope harvested over 100+ acres of maize and nandolo. It’s been an amazing few months on their farm. So far they have harvested 120 tons of maize (2,160 bags at 50 kgs per bag) and purchased a third 40 ft containers where the maize will be stored.
The primary school, Beulah K Christian Academy at Healing Hope, has opened for the next 14 week term. They have 220 students enrolled plus 30 nursery and pre-school children. These are truly exciting timing in Malawi!
During times of drought and disease, countries like Malawi can not produce the food needing for it’s people to survive. Crops are wiped out, but also with no one to tend the fields due to illness, crops simply can not be sustained. It becomes a cyclical problem. It takes organizations like Healing Hope Missions to help rebuild from such disasters.
Sending Numana meals, that you package, allows a ministry like Healing Hope to provide meals for school children. Literally sustaining life. It allows time for farmers to regroup and replant. It allows a country time to get back on it’s feet, begin to regrow and to see hope restored!
