WHAT'S HAPPENING?
We are thrilled to give you an update in regards to our partners in Haiti. Hurricane Irma moved just enough north to avoid causing destruction in Haiti. Food is still being distributed to low lying areas that experienced flooding, but the scenario that we all feared, did not happen. Thank goodness!
Irma has continued to move through the islands and make way to the United States. Following close behind Irma is Hurricane Jose. So many of you have reached out and want to help. Thank you! In the weeks to come, food requests will start coming in from our food distribution partners who distribute the aid to the areas impacted. We are preparing for those requests by asking you to help.
You can easily make such a difference in two ways: Make a donation. At just 30 cents per meal, you can make a huge difference! Host a meal packaging event. This is a way for you to make a gigantic impact and empower your entire community to be a part.

WHY FOOD?
When catastrophe hits, YOU want to provide relief that will be most effective for the victims. So, the question may arise “why food”? In a place like Haiti, when a hurricane strikes the major lasting threat is rain. Due to extreme deforestation, lack of drainage system, rise in sea level and extreme amounts of rainfall the end result is massive flooding and crippling landslides. This mud tears through fields of crops and wipes out any little amount of food storage they may have. Weeks and even months later, water supply will easily become tainted with Cholera or other deadly bacteria. The one thing that these victims will need to survive every single day of this aftermath is food. If you want to know that your dollar will be effective, give food.
