Japan & Pacific Region – Earthquake & Tsunami Relief
Tweet
Numana is organizing a relief effort for Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims. On March 11, while most Americans were sleeping, a devastating 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck the country of Japan. It is the strongest earthquake in Japan’s history. The earthquake, which struck off the coast of Japan, was followed quickly by a tsunami caused by the quake, causing further damage.
Rick McNary, CEO of Numana, Inc., commented on the disaster, saying, “A lot of the regional disasters that happen in the Midwest, such as tornadoes, happen quickly, are over quickly and are usually fairly localized. Unlike tornadoes, however, earthquakes cause damage that lasts for months, particularly because of the effects of aftershocks, and, in the Pacific region especially, the potential for tsunamis that can travel across oceans with tremendous speed, producing damage in many countries at once and affecting the global market.”
A packaging event has been scheduled for Saturday, March 19, from 9 to 5 at Butler Community College in El Dorado, KS, in the gymnasium (500 building). Please continue to check back for further updates as more event details and information on the earthquake & tsunami become available. An email update will also be released as soon as details are finalized, so please sign up for our newsletter if you have not already.
