In celebration of Numana’s 20 million meal achievement and World Food Day, commemorated annually on October 16, Numana and the City of El Dorado will come together for another packaging event at the El Dorado Civic Center. Packaging will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, October 16. All ages are encouraged to participate, and no pre-registration is required.
World Food Day was established to mark the 1945 founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, which leads international efforts to defeat hunger. This year’s theme is “United Against Hunger,” chosen to recognize the efforts made in the fight against world hunger at regional, national, and international levels.
Although Numana is deeply committed to Haiti, McNary is interested in impacting the global footprint of starvation. “ I just returned from a visit with Sudan Ambassador His Excellency Dr. Akek Khoc, who has requested that we send Numana food into Sudan as soon as possible. Therefore, the food packaged at this event will be targeted towards Sudan,” McNary said.
