Each meal saves the starving of Haiti
El Dorado, Kan., April 23, 2010 — This weekend marks history for Numana Inc., an international hunger relief organization. April 24–25, Numana will officially reach an exceptional achievement at one of the weekend’s three‐scheduled meal packaging events: 10 million meals packaged — and earlier than originally anticipated by Numana, which held its first meal packaging event in December 2009 in El Dorado, Kan.
The three events that will tip Numana over the 10 million meal mark will be held at the University of Illinois — Urbana, in New London, Conn., and in San Francisco, Calif. Since its founding event, Numana has empowered 60,000 volunteers coast to coast at 38 events in six states, feeding the starving in Haiti with 8.5 million meals.
“Kansas has long been considered the breadbasket of the world, and it is only fitting that the international headquarters of Numana is based in El Dorado,” said Numana President and CEO Rick McNary. “We have shown compassion and the capability of saving the starving, and the achievement of packaging 10 million meals is to the credit of those helping hands at each of our events. Numana sincerely thanks everyone involved in this effort.”
